Brief:
Develop an idea for a collaborative media production that addresses a particular societal challenge. Draft a media prototype that, in one way or another, gives a concrete sense of what the media experience might be. The project is expected to be researched, prototyped and presented in a clear and accessible way that outlines what the final idea would offer in terms of content and engagement were it to go forward as an actual service after the course’s end. The project should work strategically, conceptually and design-oriented with the consept of collaborative media, exhamining how people today increasingly not only consume but also design and produce media.

About Nothing's Wrong
We decided to create a concept for a participatory exhibition that addresses women’s challenges in accessing health information and care. Many women count on their social networks to find healthcare that respects and validates them, as their experiences with health issues are often trivialised and stigmatised. The title of the project refers to a common answer that healthcare providers often offer to those seeking medical advice: nothing’s wrong with you, everything looks fine, and similar expressions. This dismissal may cause women to seek consultation from other women and a mistrust in the healthcare system. The project intends to put some relief on the emotional labour that goes into researching one’s health issues through personal communities and provide validating narratives on women’s health. It aims to respond to these concerns through an anthology-style exhibition that draws on personal narratives to create an eye-opening and immersive experience. The main purpose is to diversify the perception of women’s health, validate women’s experiences and de-stigmatise the complexities of women’s health during all life phases.

Media platforms
Nothing’s Wrong provides several entry points for participation. The exhibition is a spatial area containing different zones, such as a screen media zone, an audio zone, and an analogue zone. The mix of analogue and digital allows for participation and interaction from visitors of different ambitions and abilities. An app and a workshop concept are the two primary platforms where data for the exhibition is created. The app is for submitting stories and browsing the online version of the exhibition.

My role, besides working with the development of the project’s concept, has primarily been to create the visual identity. The visual pofile mirrors the creative and collaborative aspect of the project whilst keeping a serious and modern tone. An elegant serif and a neutral sans-serif were used to create a clear visual hierarchy. The brand icon is a stylised dandelion. It acts as a visual metaphor for the stories collected: when grouped together they all constitute a whole unit, but they have meaning on their own. The visuals, according to the principles of modularity and scalability of the project, accept a certain degree of customization, providing a recognizable visual identity that can be adapted to different feels and needs.
